catalysis: day 3

On Sunday I went out to Reynolds Creek to work my new project, Catalysis. For those of you unfamiliar with Catalysis, it consists of super tiny/super sharp crimps on a slightly overhanging face. After being told by a few friends that this was a perfect project for me, and ignoring the intimidating grade (V10), I decided to give it a try. Before Sunday I had put in about 5 or 6 goes, and I was falling at the first crux move (a bump to an alright gaston). After a few attempts I stuck this move. And on the next attempt I found myself on the last of the tiny crimps, not knowing where to go. With no one to spot me, the throw for the last hold seemed a little more daunting, so I decided to back off and call it a day. Similarly to most who have worked Catalysis, I walked away with a tiny hole in my right index finger. I will most likely have to wait a few weeks to get back on it, and here's why:

February 26th & 27th: Marley in the Mountains - I am volunteering with a few friends to help with recycling at the concerts... And selling some of my fiveB knits (custom crocheted beanies)!

March 5th and 6th: The Palouse Climbing Festival - This will be my 3rd year competing in this comp, and it is by far one of my favorite comps. Mike McClure and Mike Bockino will be setting so get psyched and come climb some awesome problems!

Here's a little video I put together of my day at Reynolds.
